Its funny how these things get around. The world is even smaller in blog land.
What were you doing ten years ago?
I was at Rick's College living the single life with WONDERFUL girls that I dearly love. It was only weeks before the semester ended and I was dreading the fact that I was gonna have to leave my friends and go home. I loved everything about my experience there and know that my life changed for the better the moment I got there. I went back last year and I teared up when we drove in. So many good memories that I'll never forget. (Dancing in the snow in our swimsuits and being called to repentance by the other girls in the complex, Kemy- the infamous
telephone prankster, working out at the Hart, Devotionals, Personal Achievement with Brother Ladle, Jess Pimintel and Brady Karen, C-3 primping, Nicole's spider screams, Claudia's scary dreams and sleep walking, chastity line, feeling the spirit more than ever before in my whole life, overdraft charges, Basketball games, Libbie's strip tease lessons, FHE, Mill Hollow, Walmart runs, Bishop Nelson, Utah Trips, bowling, Manwaring center, Porter's, Subway delivered!, Folk dance, sunless tanner, snow, laughing, crying, ABC lists, aerobics to AC/DC , beds on center blocks, Stacey galloping and mocking me, posing for pictures, spaghetti with angel hair pasta, cinnamon rolls, Don't eat after 7:00 pm Rule, Spice Girls Movie, Green Canyon, The Taylor, Valentine 80's dress-up, .... and there's so much more but sadly I'm starting to forget.)
What are five things on your list today?
1. Do something for Jeff when he gets home from work-It's his birthday!!!
2. grocery shopping
3. keeping the house spotless in case I have a showing
4. morning Devo by myself and with kids
5. get ready for blue and gold banquet
Snacks You Enjoy:
Almonds and grapes together, snap peas, strawberries, anything with a high carb and salt count.
What would you do if you became a millionaire?
Pay off our mortgage, upgrade our cars with newer used cars, buy our friends a house ( we have some good friends that have 4 kids, are going to school, work really really hard, and have yet to have a place of their very own. I worry that their income will not afford them a nice home someday. I've always wanted to help them out.), spend $10,000 on stuff and a vacation, invest all the rest.
5 Jobs I've had:
1. Burger King
2. Toys R us sales associate
3. Lamonts sales associate
4. Red Robin waitress
5. Winco Customer Service
5 things you don't know about me:
1. Adoration and respect mean a lot to me.
2. I love to laugh so hard that I cry. I don't laugh enough, or smile enough.
3. I worry to much about my appearance sometimes. At times I feel vain.
4. I love anything that has to do with before and afters- I love and crave progress and accomplishment.
5. When I die I want to leave a great Legacy. I want to make a difference in the lives of others.
6. One more... when I heard this song performed Live at Josh's concert, I openly cried. I'm very emotional and music seems to make it very difficult for me to hide my feelings. If something has a really good Latin or Reggae beat I can hardly hold myself still. Like "These hips don't Lie". I love to crank that song and go crazy. The lyrics aren't the best, but man, that song makes me want to dance. I love "Low Rider" too.
- Kim
- Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.
All my friends have a low rider...I LOVE that song too. Anytime I hear the first few beats, I get so giddy! It makes me want to move! Wait, are we talking about the same song?
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about your memories of Ricks. I didn't go to college, and the one reason that I really regret is simply that I missed out on some great experiences that I'm sure would have helped me grow. Isn't it sad that I don't feel as bad for missing an education?? But then again, I always think that had I gone to college, I probably would not have met Spencer. So I guess that's proof to me that things worked out the way they should have ;)
Why do I leave such long comments???
Same song Tiff, and giddy is a great word for how I feel when I hear that song too!
ReplyDeleteCollege was more fun than education for me. If I could go back now I'd be more studious. I had really fun and outgoing roommates and there was always something to do. Mostly, I gained a very strong witness that the gospel is true and had I not gone, Jeff probably wouldn't have fallen for me. I was a different girl before I went.
I always love your comments!!! I always feel your sincerity and friendship. You're a sweety!!! I wish I could leave long ones all the time.BTW. The week's been crazy. We'll have to get together later. I'll call you.
I love the leaving a legacy. I am going to think about that today. You have a great day and thanks for sharing a little somethin somethin about yourself.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great post. I love that you took the time to write down all the Ricks memories. So many of mine are the same! That was such an amazing experiance!
ReplyDeleteLove learning a bit more about you. I totally can relate to the music part of your post. Music creates more feelings in me than anything else. I think that is why I love broadway shows so much, because they combine beautiful and energetic visuals with breathtaking music. Pretty much life changing every time I see one.
ReplyDeleteOh.....your list of our "happenings" at Rick's College made me miss miss miss it! We seriously had fun. I would love to re-live it all. Every one of those memories you listed are cherished by me. I am so glad all of us gals lived together - we were good together and we really had fun...seriously SO MUCH FUN!!! I loved that you reminisced about us being "called to repentance by the other girls" ..boy is that true! It's a good thing Bishop Call loved us as much as we loved him (we never did anything that bad, anyway!) Thanks for the memories! and if you still have photos, I need copies. I was dumb enough to not take many pictures! especially photos of our '80's Valentine!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Ricks College . . . the best place on earth! You just made my night! All those memories! And my goodness . . . Its all coming back to me now, the strip tease lessons! What is wrong with me??? I also loved our barnyard animal sessions by the window! We were definitely SO Mature! But who cares when you are having the time of your life!
