My photo
Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

Growth

I am not very patient,
especially while learning.
Growth,
Persistance,
Trial and error,
Mistakes,
Time.
All of it can be insanely frustrating.
However,
there's is so much to learn,
about ourselves,
about others.
There's character to build.
Its taken maturity and time to figure this out.
I know that growth is necessary.
I know talents and character won't land in my lap.
But,
sometimes I act like it should, even though I know better.
Joy in the journey.
Easy to say,
hard to do.
I got married about 13 years ago.
We were given a Nikon film SLR.
Jeff knew all about aperture, and shutter speed.
He knew all about film and lenses.
He tried to teach me.
Guess what?
I didn't wanna.
I was kind of a brat about it.
It was way too complicated,
 over my head.
 A few years ago
with an attitude change,
and some try
the lights finally came on.
There was still sooooooo much to learn.
Sometimes I felt like giving up.
I knew that I could learn though,
so many people were.
The internet is such an amazing tool.

I took pictures of my beautiful niece.
She's expecting #1 baby girl any day.
Speaking of growth.
I've watched her grow from a toddler to
a beautiful woman.
She and I have a history.
I was part of her growth,
and my heart is full to watch her now.
What a blessing she's been to me.
I'm so proud of her.
I'm so happy she is happy.
I was in tears while I edited these photos.
Technically,
I felt very confident,
and was super excited how they all turned out.
Photography is such an amazing gift.
And then there's the bond we have with each other,
this allowed me to relax and apply all the growth
from prior experience.
I have lots more to learn,
but I'm really excited about it.

on the way home

I was in a rush to get home.
Get dinner on the table.
Finish homework.
I saw the light in the trees.
I pulled over, grabbed my camera.
"Abby! skip down the sidewalk."

Framed

I know I'm just another of the mom photographers out there.
It's kind of a trend.
Like Blogging, and running.
I don't like to run.

Photographers that learned with film probably roll their eyes at us mom's with our digital SLR's.

My husband has been into photography since he was in highschool.
He shot 7 weddings with a Nikon Film SLR.
In our early years of marriage we had a dark room.
I wanted to learn how to shoot an SLR and he tried to teach me.
I didn't get it until we got our Canon 50D.
I want a film camera again.
  A Pentax K1000.
Anyway.
I'm not a pro.
Someday I'd would like to get paid for my work.
But for now I'll just practice on my family.
In fact.
Jeff and I are going to team up and shoot my niece's wedding.
I'm really excited.

I've been watching this new show called FRAMED.
Its on You Tube.
The intro to this segment explains why I'm waiting.
Becky Earl and Yan are amazing.

beautiful blue eyes

I have a friend.
She is blind.
She has four beautiful children.
She asked me to take pictures of her baby.
She just turned 1.
It was good practice for me.
We hung out in the kitchen and I snapped away.
How would it be not see the faces of my children.
My friend is brave.
She is deep.
I love her.

Back to School

The boys are ready.

New shoes.
New clothes.
Haircuts by mom.
They made school year goals.
Learned how to make a first good impression.
Their daddy gave them blessings.

I tucked the boys into bed last night, asked them what they thought about their blessings.
"I almost started to cry."

"Did you feel the Holy Ghost.?"

"Yeah, a lot."

He gave me a blessing too.
Their daddy was crying.
It was beautiful.
Just what I needed to hear.
I love my boys.
and
I
REALLY
LOVE

their Daddy.
