My photo
Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

My Boy was Baptized

On December 22nd, Jeff baptized our oldest child and gratefully most of our family was able to witness this milestone in our lives. We got permission from our Bishop to have our own, separate from the Stake, because of my mom's health and mostly because we had so many of our family here. All of Jeff's siblings were there but Becky and Sally, and all of mine but Kent. I fed everyone afterwards with some pretty grubbin' refreshments and my good friend DeLynn and her family helped me clean up afterwards. She was such a big help. I love that girl.

Anyway, it feels a bit weird that he is 8 but I'm really excited for him. He's in Cub Scouts and loves it so far. The other day he went to his first Eagle Court of Honor as an a official Scout with his Dad. They were both decked out in their uniforms and I so wish I had a picture. I used to grumble a bit about the scouting program when we were first married. Jeff told me that the program had done a lot for him and that he wanted to give back and be a good leader like the ones he had. He went on about all the hikes and camp outs that he wanted to go on and all I could think of was the amount of money it would cost to do all those things. I've changed my mind since because I understand more fully the purpose behind scouting. I wouldn't say I was ready to be a den mother but I'm excited to help Devon along and hope that he will follow in his Dad's footsteps. I was reading in his cub scout book the other day so I could start helping him and it was exciting for me to see that he will be able to develop so many values- integrity, honor, respect, hard work.
Scout Oath
Scout Law
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

A Scout is:
Trustworthy
Loyal
Helpful
Friendly
Courteous
Kind

Obedient
Cheerful
Thrifty
Brave
Clean
Reverent

Speaking of Values!

Jeff and I watched this movie last night. I looooooooooved it. I walked away with lots weighing on my mind. I feel like I was given the same gifts that "Jason" was given while I was growing up. As of late, I've tried to forget about the mistakes my parents made and I've tried to remember the good they
taught me. I also felt like I've been too preoccupied with abundance.
There is a ton things that I let distract me from what I know is most important. I think one of my biggest challenges is to REMEMBER what is REALLY important. I have many more thoughts but my time is spent. I need to recap Christmas. I had a BEAUTIFUL Christmas. I cried a lot and my heart was softened.

  1. Congratulations to your oldest on his big day! Hannah was baptized the day after your son was. It was a great day.

    I have had the same feelings about scouting that you had. Josh will not be 8 for a couple of years, but I know that I need to have a better attitude about the program. They do so much good for these boys.

    I'm glad that you had a wonderful Christmas. I was thinking of you and your family and what you are all going through right now. Now that the holidays are over, let me know when you would like to get together.

  3. I'm glad to see you posting again.

    I'm a big believer in scouting, I know that it has helped Brandon a lot in his life and Ethan LOVES it with all his heart.

    Loved that movie too, it really helps to keep the proper perspective.

  5. My oldest son just turned 12. It's hard to believe how quickly the time goes! I loved it when he was baptized - and let me tell you, the son being ordained a deacon part? Just fabulous. Thankfully, my son HAS had very good scout leaders. I can't tell you how thankful I am to them, and what they've done for my boy. On behalf of all the mom's like me - thank your honey for all the good work he's doing. You are lucky, but you know that.
