Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

Blog Envy?! What to do?

Women do it all the time. Especially me. COMPARE. Why do we do this? Its not fun. Personally, when I compare myself to others I start feeling inept, inadequate, and kind of lousy. So I face a challenge while blogging. There are so many lovely, talented woman that blog, many are my friends. This morning I read my friend's sister's blog and realized that my once thought talent for writing doesn't even COMPARE (there's that word again) to what some can do with words. Her name is Kristen. Wow! This girl can write. Kristen's blog is not the only blog I envy, oh no, there is more. I'm quite envious of the those that get more than 10 comments on a post. If I get 3 I'm happy. HINT HINT :) I don't want to sound like a big mope. I'm trying to type with some sounds of satire. I merely want to state the facts. It helps to get it out so it doesn't lurk in my brain, and drive me insane. (Hey, that rhymed.) So, I ask, what to do? I'm not quite sure because I get it (blog envy) every time I blog even when I tell myself not to. I can't be the only one that does this. Please tell me I'm not alone. What do you do to stop blogger envy?

  3. We each are doing the best we can right? All of us have different talents and abilities, and all of us have different demands in our life that cause us to be more or less busy. Your blog is FANTASTIC, so stop comparing. Your blog should be for you, as a record of your life. Don't compare...who knows: maybe someone out there is envious of your blog!

  4. Hi! Just popped over from the Passionista and love it when I see bloggers asking deep questions and putting themselves out there. Blogging really puts yourself "out there" (really out there) and anytime you put yourself "out there" you are vulnerable, and that is not necessarily a bad thing, but you have to be prepared to find things out about yourself that you maybe hadn't experienced because we rarely purposely put ourselves in situations that make us so vulnerable. I applaud you for being brave and bold and blogging! As to the comparing thing. A dear friend once told me this about comparing ourselves and it really stuck in my brain because I think it is true. If we compare ourselves to someone we consider ourself to be superior to then we are being prideful. If we compare ourselves to someone we consider ourself to be less than we are selling ourselves short. Either way we LOSE. We are who we are (a good thing) and other people are who they are (also a good thing). So I use that philosophy as my self checkup and it seems to help.

  6. Kimi, if we all had the same talents, this world would be a very boring place. Some people are good writers, some people are good at crafts, decorating, others are good at sewing . . . the list could go on. I have learned in my nearly 30 years, that it does no good to compare myself to others. It is a waste of time and energy and does a real negative number to the self esteem. Be grateful for the wonderful person you are and for YOUR talents, which are many . . . . I am so glad that there are differences in this world! We all contribute in our own ways. I think that if we just do the best at what we can do, its all good!

  8. p.s. don't think you're not a good writer because you have read Kristen's blog. The girl is sheer genius (I should know, she's my sister!)and not many people can write like her. So you just keep writing and entertaining us!

  10. Darling Kim,

Be not troubled. Your blog is fantastic (I read it often). You and your family are so cute, and my lack of family and cuteness leave me to write solely about things that annoy me on a daily basis. :)

PS--I'm your TENTH comment!!!! You're so hot.
