My photo
Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

Miracle

I watched my sister give birth to this handsome little man. I'm once again, 100% convinced, that Heaven isn't very far away.

My sister is my new hero. She did what she set out to do. When it got hard and she got afraid she gathered strength from that mighty heart of hers and brought her baby boy into the world. It was a beautiful, marvelous, thing to witness.

Mom, I knew you were there. I know you were proud.

A Baby Shower for my lil' sis

On the 18th I threw a baby shower for my little sister. It was a lot of fun. I liked the food the best! BRUNCH. Yummy.

As always, Mel was hilarious, and beautiful.

I was happy that we finally sold our house and could throw a shower for her in my new place.

I put this sign in the yard so our guests knew where the shower was.

When my mom was very sick, Melanie thought ahead and bought some material so my mom could make some receiving blankets. She tried doing some crochet around the edges but it made her feel worse and she didn't get the blanket finished. (I remember watching her try as hard as she could but it was just too difficult. Mel wasn't expecting yet but she knew that mom wasn't going to be here when she was. She found out she was pregnant a few weeks after my mom died.)

Aunt Jan took over the project and gave Mel the blanket at the shower.

On the back of the blanket she stitched...

I tried.
Grandma Carver

There wasn't enough Kleenex in the room.

Judi was my lovely assistant. When she found out my collar bone was broken she jumped right in and mostly threw the party. (She was my oldest brother's girlfriend in high school. Its been years since we've been around each other but it seems like I've always known her. She is a sweetheart.) Thanks to my Aunt Jan too. She brought a couple of Yummy Breakfast Casseroles.

Turn Back Tuesday

Abby 2006
She looks so YUMMY.
This morning I'm feeling a bit baby hungry as I've sorted through old pictures. My little sister Mel might be having her little one soon. I'm excited!! I can wait to kiss his little cheeks and take in that baby scent.

News

My little sister is expecting her first baby May 15th!!!

I'm relieved. Melanie's health hasn't been 100% so I didn't know what to expect. She's been praying and waiting for the right time.
She gave so much of herself during mom's illness. She's the only one of us girls without kiddos and works for herself so she was with mom a lot during the last days of her life. She was mom's nurse and she was AMAZING with mom. Thinking about it brings me to tears. If there is anything she deserves it is for her to have the desire of her heart after such a great loss.

A baby, a new life.

Now that mom is gone. I'll be one of the people she'll look to. I'll hold her hand as she welcomes this new baby. I'll be there when she needs her mother. I hope in some small way I'll fill those shoes. What does a girl do without a mother? I think she turns to her sisters. Melanie has two. I need to step up.

I love you Melanie. I'm proud of you. You're my little baby sis. Welcome to the beginning of motherhood. Good luck. You're going to need it!! :)
