My photo
Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

Whatcha been up to?

Whatcha been up to?
When someone asks me this question I get stumped.
My first thought is laundry.
Laundry is what I do everyday.
I guess I think I have to report something big
like
writing a book,
or
running for mayor.
Not that I'd like to do either.
The book would be fine.
But no thanks on Mayor.
My days are so full.
I could ramble it all off.
I'm up to a lot.
Loads and loads of laundry means I have what I've always wanted.
So I guess,
I can say,
"I'm living happily ever after".
Even though I'd sound like a nut.

  1. I had my own apartment for a while when I was single and 26. I had a full-time teaching job. The apartment always looked perfectly put together. My laundry was always folded neatly or hung on the hangers. There was nothing to do in terms of cleaning or chores because I had already done it. It was very quiet. I used to turn on the soundtrack to Pride and Prejudice (the one with Kiera Knightly) and open my large bedroom window and stare and the mountains covered in snow. Then I'd cry into my pillow because I was so lonely. :-(

I loved your poem because it reminded me of how much I dislike the menial tasks of dishes and laundry and yet I love having the people in my life that make those tasks so necessary so often.
