I love Fridays
because Jeff is home,
(we play racquetbal,
we do lunch,)
(we play racquetbal,

things slow down.
I've had a very busy week.
My house looks like it threw up.
Instead of cleaning I want to take a nap.
I love my camera.
My kids ask, "what is your favorite toy."?
My camera!!!
I would like to be really really good.
I would love to be well known.
I would love to have people pay good money if I was really good.
One slight problem.
I want to be really really good at motherhood.
I have to be honest with myself.
I can't have a full blown business right now.
As much as I crave admiration.
My family needs more attention than I ever thought they'd need.
Hobbies, time alone are important,
in fact I'm going to a much needed craft night tonight.
I just know me.
I feel so many things pulling me away from my family.
Anyway,
I'm going on and on.

Wanna know how I did these?
I went to Value Village (my favorite store)
and bought a white sheet for 2.99
I clipped the sheet on my garage door.
Lowered the door 1/3 of the way down.
Then I stuck a few paper hearts on with tape.
I used my 50mm 1.4 lens.
Set it at a 3.0 aperture in manual, and set my shutter accordingly.
Focused on my girls' hands.
(I wanted their faces to be blurred but there hands in focus.)
And shot away.
It took 15 minutes total.
I touched the pics up in CS2.
and added text in Picasa.
Cut a slit on top of the hand and a slit under.
Slide a sucker in.
And your done.
So easy, and so cute.

Those are so cute! I know how you feel. My talent is writing. I can write, I mean really write. I'm a magazine hound. I read articles in magazines and get so ticked because "I could have written that." Or, "I have written something JUST like that!" I can't figure out why I want to be published in magazines. Who cares? But I think it would give me a sense of accomplishment and peace that I was doing something with my talent. Here's the deal: people who are famous photographers or famous magazine contributors but who aren't mothers----they aren't even in our league. We could do exactly what they do and more. We are mothers. You can be as good as photographer you want to be, but you are so dang smart for prioritizing the right things first. I know a photographer who is amazing!!! Divorced, estranged from his kids. Miserable. But he has a thriving business! He wouldn't trade you.
ReplyDeletehey those are like my Valentine's for my kiddos but flip flopped. How funny! I stole it from my friend from like two years ago. FUNNY!
