My photo
Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

Now I know...

...Why my mom seldom had perfectly polished nails.
In the middle of a easy going Friday last week
I decided I would paint my nails red.
Base coat
2 red coats
Top coat
It took quite a while.
Abby painted her nails too.
She needs practice.
No camera then.
But you can imagine.
She's 4.

I had lots I wanted to get done
When my nails were dry.
Refinish a chair,
Organize my underwear drawer.
Bills.

Ha.
They took forever to dry.
I tried to baby my hands.
But hours later
they were scuffed up pretty bad.
By night fall my Red nails were toast.

Not really my thing.
To give myself a manicure.
Next time I'll just give Abbs one.
She called it Beauty shop.
She talked with me.
Told about all kinds of stuff.
She looked at me very seriously,
"Mom. Dinosaurs eat meat."
........Her eyes narrowed.
She furrowed her brow.
"We! are. meat."
I laughed my head off.

Time.
Can be spent so many ways.
My mom knew that.
She worked with her hands all of the time.
She canned,
She loved to sew.
She used to make us the best Saturday morning breakfasts.
She also found time for herself.
Pockets of time
all moms need.

A pocket of me time for fancy red nails.
Nope, not my mom.
It would tie up her hands too long.
Just like it had mine.
I wondered if she laughed at my discovery.

  5. I HATE polish on my nails for EXACTLY this reason. I love my toes done though! :)
