My photo
Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

I'm a believer.

For the past 2 years I've battled acne on my neck and chin. I've tried several things and nothing has worked. So many companies profess to be the best at this or that. How do you know who's really telling the truth.

Anyway, I've been in the market for something to clear up my face. I've also wanted to look vibrant, non-blotchy, and basically have a good palette for my make-up. One of my very best friends signed up with Mary Kay. I must admit, I've never been a fan. I don't get sold on things very easily. But since she's selling it and I wanted to help her with her income, I tried it.
And now... I'M A BELIEVER. The difference is HUGE and I love to wash my face like never before. I wash it in the morning and at night. I have a regimen down and totally endorse the cleansing system that Mary Kay has to offer.

While I'm on this subject. I must say I love make-up!!!!! Pictured below is my make-up box, and yes I use almost all of that makeup. Whenever I open this box it makes me happy. I love it because its like painting, and that's why I love make-up brushes too.

Some of my makeup must haves.
  • eyelash curler
  • mineral foundation

  • bronzer ( I love physician's formula)

  • Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara- best mascara that I've ever used. Laura taught me to put the mascara tube under my armpit while I do my make-up. It warms it up and makes it easier to apply. She also taught me something that has dramatically changed the fullness and length of my lashes. My neighbor even asked me if I had false lashes on the other day!!
  • eye brushes, stipple brush, eyeliner brush, and big powder brush
  • eye makeup remover from Mary Kay

  • Mac Paint pot Painterly, a creamy nude beige color (what is a paint pot? Read below)The paint pot intensifies the color of your shadows, making them vibrant and true. Green is really green; blue is really blue.

By Amber:Another benefit: MAC Paint Pot extends the life of other eye makeup you’re wearing. Preventing creases, it keeps eyeshadow in place and looking great. It works so well, you could even sleep in it and your eye make up would still look great when you woke up! It’ll at least make it through a night of dancing with your best girlfriends. It’s one of my favorite eye shadow primers I’ve tried.

Another little secret? It works great as a concealer too, especially for covering dark under-eyes. Since the nude beige color of Painterly matches my skin pretty well, I just use a concealer brush and apply a little to my blemishes and under my eyes. It works better than a lot of actual concealers I’ve tried. I can’t say it would work for everyone, but if it matches your skin, I would definitely give it a try!

One more suggestion. If you want to learn some skills about makeup application, take a look at these amazing books. You can also call my friend Laura, she loves to teach anyone how to put on their makeup.

  2. I love makeup!!! It is so much fun to play with.

What's funny is that I've been thinking of doing a "What's in my makeup bag" post too ;) You read my mind!

Mary Kay's mascara is SO good. I haven't used it in a long time though. There's a girl in my ward who is a consultant...I think I need to give her a call!

  3. I'm so glad you did this post! I have been looking for a good face wash. I feel like the one I am using is making me break out. Do you recommend getting the whole set or could I live with just a couple of the things. Let me know what you think. By the way your are beautiful and I have always loved your red hair!

  4. Thanks for the tip on the M.A.C. paint pot. I have been looking for something that does just that. Welcome back to the non-private blog life. I tried going private for a while and it was just no fun!

  5. Thanks for the post, I love make-up also and am always looking for something better. I have never tried M.A.C., sounds like I should. I used to have some Mary Kay stuff and really liked it. Would their mascara be good for sensitive eyes? I have only been able to wear Almay because my eyes are sensitive to other mascaras.

  6. Angie,
I recommend the whole system. I think its called the miracle set. And the really cool thing about Mary Kay is if you don't like it they're really good about making sure your happy. I don't know exactly but I think they'll let you return anything no questions asked.
    Shelli,
I looooooove the mascara but I don't know about sensitivity. My friend Laura can tell you more. Plus you can return it if it does. I've wanted you to meet Laura anyway. You'd love her.
