My photo
Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

An assignment

Yesterday I got a call from one of the advisers in YW. She asked him if I would speak to the girls about "Finding Joy in Our Divine Potential". I will be speaking this coming Sunday. The lesson says this:
Ask her to relate some joys and challenges she has experienced, including some when she was the age of the young women in the class. She might tell about specific experiences and choices that helped her stay close to Heavenly Father and the blessings and joy that resulted. She should emphasize the joy of being a woman at every age. Suggest that she take about twenty minutes. Ask her to allow time for the young women to ask her questions and express their feelings.

So, I two questions.
  • What is our Divine Potential?
  • How have you found joy in your divine potential?

  1. I think our divine potential is knowing that you are a daughter of God and that you can be like Him and return home to Him one day.

Having that knowledge is empowering. It changes the way that we make decisions. I find joy in that power that I have to live in a way that will lead me back to my Father in Heaven. Also, knowing that when I make mistakes (like every day!) that I can repent and do a little better the next day. That kind of hope is so precious.

  2. When I think of our "Divine Potential" I think about the opportunity we have to try to be like Christ, and although, none of us are perfect, we can become perfect in him (eventually!) I believe divine self worth comes in knowing that we are divine daughters of a Heavenly Father who loves us and wants us to succeed in this life. Focusing on eternal attributes and purposes will help us to succeed in this journey and in finding and understand our divine potential!

Good luck with your lesson, I love working with the Young Women!

  3. We had this lesson in YW last week.
I know that you have already given the lesson, but I thought I would comment anyways.
I have found joy in my divine potential by counting the blessings. It's a half full or half empty situation. You can always find the bad in things....but why? Why not look for all the good. So I try to be optimistic. I try to find the beauty around me everyday and to be glad that I have a family and the gospel.

Kim, I love your blog :)
