Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

staying clear of the computer


I've been staying clear of the computer and spending more time with my kids as well as preparing for the Handcart Trek I'll be doing the end of July. I'm very serious about being as ready as I possibly can. I've stepped back and I've taken a good hard look at myself and pondered on my strengths and weaknesses. I've decided that the struggle I might encounter out there in the scorching, 100 degree dusty land, is trying to be upbeat and positive, while I'm hot, tired, and frustrated. My attitude is great when everything is hunky dory, but the minute I get stressed... oh boy, you'd better watch out. I keep thinking that a lot of these kids won't want to be there and its my job to help make it a good experience. I feel like I've got to be kind of like an EFY counselor. I've never gone to EFY but I've been to a high school leadership camp and know the character of the counselors that were there. I'm praying and preparing to be the kind of Ma that my "kids" need to make this experience one that they'll never forget. I'm not afraid to get dirty, sleep under the stars, work hard or sweat. I'm not afraid to cook in a dutch oven or go without a shower for four days. (Everyone else around me maybe afraid to be close to me though)

To prepare for the heat I signed up for Bikram (hot) yoga. I've done four classes so far and I already feel a HUGE difference. My endurance and energy has picked up and I'm tolerating the heat. The most exciting thing for me is feeling more flexible and strong. I can do pose 24!!! I can actually put my nose on my knee and touch my toes. I can also do 3, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, and 26. Number 6 will take me awhile. Some of the poses challenge the strength and balance of my left leg. My left leg has always been weaker. I favor my right because my left is a little bit shorter. They're actually two different sizes. Anyway, I hope to get better at 4, 5, 6, 7, and 11. The room is anywhere from 105 to 110 degrees and sweat just drips off, I can feel my heart pounding in my ears. There is absolute silence except for everyone's breath and the instructions from our teacher. Most of the class I look straight ahead of myself in the mirror and concentrate on each specific instruction. I've never done anything like this before. It feels great to get through the class and to know that I can do hard things.

    You're going to be a great Ma. Just be yourself and that's all the motivation those kids will need.

    As for the yoga...WOW! I'm so impressed!

  2. I wanted to go on the trek so badly! You wanna wear a bracelet with my name on it? :) You're going to be a great ma. I think you'll be one of the fun ones everyone wished they got to have.

  3. Wow, that is all so impressive. I think it would have been alot easier on those pioneer women if they had done yoga first it sounds like.

    I love how you are taking this so seriously. You are going to feel so blessed for your efforts. Love the dress.
