Every morning I wake up with a head full of things to do. I scramble around trying to put them in lists of importance all while trying to keep the peace within my little brood (trying to recall everything I've learned and read about parenting at the same time.) I love being a wife and the quirks that come with having my man forever. I love to be creative and thrive on crossing off my to do list. I strive to find balance and put first things first which brings me PEACE & JOY and allows me to sleep so much easier when I do. I think that one of the secrets to being HAPPY in life is to find that balance. I'm learning how to be kinder to myself and learning patience in progress. Everyday, through the thick and thin of life I'm trying to turn my heart towards heaven and remember what's really important.Oh, and I love to eat, so much so that I love to exercise too.

Oh MAma! Time to forget myself and go to work!!!

So last week or so our Bishop asked us to be a Ma and Pa for the Stake Trek. It will be 3 nights 4 days and A LOT of sun and walking. It will be the last week of July. Today I got some paperwork. Holy Smokes!! I need to get out of this funk and go to work.

1. What is a profile for Ma's and Pa's?

They are stalwart and stable adults who:
  • love the youth and the Lord
  • are spiritually fit
  • are physically fit
  • are positive and patient
  • are enduring and persevering
  • are models of proper living

There's even more. As I read through it all I just started bawling. This is going to a soul-searching experience for me.

  1. I think this would be a very hard (physically) thing to do, but I think you will learn so much from this experience. I can't wait for you to share some of your experiences after it's all said and done!

  2. I think it is neat that you already are feeling the spirit of the event. It will be a worth it challenge. Please let us know how it goes.

  3. Kim-you guys will be great. What an honor to be asked. I have heard over and over that it is an awesome experience for the youth and adults both alike. It changes lives.
I know the couples in our ward who are the ma's and pa's and I get to go walking with one of the the mas'-their family has been taking walks sometimes 10-15 miles long every Saturday since the beginning of May. In all kinds of weather.(She has also invited anyone planning on going to join them.) Plus she runs, walks or swims as well daily to help herself get in shape-and pushes a stroller loaded up to help with endurance. She started out slowly and has been building up to it. It is definitely going to help get you in shape. In all arenas-so get really excited-this is exactly what you have been wanting- to change your entire perspective! I am really looking forward to hearing firsthand about your experience. You are going to be AMAZING! Love-N

  4. Chad's sisiter Tiffani and her husband have been a Ma and Pa in their stake (here in Meridian) trek for the past two years. They have amazing experiences! If you want more detailed info or if you want any tips or questions, I'm sure she would be glad to help. Good luck!

  5. I would love to go!!! I'm so jealous! How about you watch one of my kids and I'll go with Jeff... What do you think? Would they let brother and sister be a Ma and Pa?
